• Regular cleaning with a soft cloth and warm water is effective and safe when it comes to removing dust and dirt from the surface;
• you should avoid products containing alkalis, which can harm granite - destruction of the stone structure, loss of natural color, the appearance of lines and spots;
• the negative effect of acid is often manifested in the form of corrosion, and in some cases in the destruction of the structure;
• the recommended cleaning products are special mats in the format of pads. This recommendation will be very relevant for the surfaces of kitchen tables and pull-out furniture, where there is an increased risk of damage.

Please note! Avoid prolonged contact of liquids with the surface of granite. If you notice that vegetable oil, food coloring, water and other liquids have been spilled on the stone, wipe the material very thoroughly and let it dry completely.

Practical tips for caring for granite surfaces

You should determine in which part of the room the stain appeared on the stone. It can be a cooking area, near a sink, or something else. Thus, it is possible to establish the nature of the substance that caused the stain.

After that, you can start neutralizing the contamination, depending on the origin of the stains.

Organic substances

The most common cases of this type of contamination include

• food ingredients;
• insect, animal and bird droppings;
• vegetable oils;
• natural fats.

This problem can be solved by using a 12% solution of hydrogen peroxide with a few drops of ammonia.

Ink stains 

Conventional ink, ballpoint pens, and markers can leave dark stains on the granite surface. This is especially unpleasant on light stones. For dark granite, cleaning takes place with nail polish remover or acetone. Light coatings are treated with bleach or hydrogen peroxide.

Paint stains

The size of the localized stain affects the method of its elimination. If the area is relatively small, the option of careful and accurate use of the blade is suitable. But you should be absolutely sure that you will not get scratches as a result. If there is even the slightest doubt, we clean it with nail polish remover.
